AirSon Engineering Services Controlled Environment Cleanroom solutions

Cleanroom solutions

Reducing unwanted airborne matter is often necessary to exploit exciting new markets. A cleverly designed cleanroom solution provides real competitive advantages, such as higher quality, lower waste and higher profit margins. It also enables the realization of entirely new products and production lines.

Our focus is on industries with high demands on close control of the environment, such as healthcare, food & beverage and hi-tech production. We have extensive experience and expertise in cleanroom design, a long reference list, excellent credentials and access to a unique technology: Temperature controlled Laminar Air (TLA). Our cleanroom installations bring very high ventilation efficiency, calm airflows, a comfortable environment, energy efficiency and low lifecycle costs.

We design various cleanroom solutions and offer everything from installation of clean zones in exposed parts of your process, to large turnkey cleanroom facilities. Before the start of any design or construction, we help you investigate problems and evaluate various solutions in our air laboratories.

AirSon offers its services as engineers and advisors as well as designers and turnkey contractors. That way, we can deliver the best solution for your specific project.

Controlled Environment
Background for video placeholder

Due to our specialization within our market segments, we are very familiar with the standards and regulatory frameworks for cleanroom installations, and we make sure that you comply with the rigid demands.

Standards & regulatory frameworks

These demands need to be met using the correct design criteria, such as air changes, filtration, wall systems, ceiling panels, floor coverage etc. The cleanroom class or grade governs all parts of the controlled environment in order for it to meet its expected functionality and parameters. For example, we have experience with ISO, GMP and US FED regulations.

  • ISO 14644-1, classes 1-9.
  • GMP standards, grades A-D
  • US FED STD 209E, classes 1 – 100 000

Energy-efficient design

Strict demands necessitate large air volumes, which lead to high energy demands. Our focus on energy efficiency helps you bring down the OPEX costs for your cleanroom.

The energy demands in a controlled production environment depend on many factors. The most important (and often least discussed) is the actual needs of the process. Unnecessarily stringent demands lead to energy being wasted, while too soft requirements affect the function.

The controlled environment’s volume and envelope tightness are other important factors that has an impact on the cost of operation. An isolator or a microclimate application may be an alternative way of securing the quality of the production process. We help you evaluate your production line and develop tailored solutions in our AirSon Air Labs.

Clean room validation

AirSon qualifies and validates clean rooms in accordance with Swedish and international standards. Regular inspections are required to ensure the function of cleanroom zones – often due to regulatory requirements on qualification and periodic validation.

AirSon Engineering is a well reputed supplier of turnkey cleanrooms with decades of cumulative experience in designing, building and validating cleanrooms. We also help customers carry out inspections of existing cleanrooms and offer consultation with routines for functionality checks. In our work, we follow standards such as ISO 14644 and GMP Volume 4, annex 1.

Examples of controls we perform:

  • Particle counts
  • Control of air flow
  • Control of differential pressure and flow direction
  • Control of air circulation
  • Leakage testing of HEPA-filter
  • Control of safety cabinets and LAF-/UDF units
  • Microbiological testing in air and on surfaces
Dryroom solutions

In a dryroom, the controlled variable is humidity. Dry environments are crucial in industries such as lithium-Ion battery manufacturing, where the rooms often need to be maintained at a dewpoint
of -40°C or below.

Isolators & microclimate applications

When protecting sensitive products, components, ingredients or people from air borne particles, microorganisms or aerosols, it is often critical to minimize the space in which you confine the related activities. Sensitive production lines requiring tightly controlled environments can cost fortunes to control, with high investment costs and even higher operational cost. Not to mention the environmental footprint that may follow.

Airson TLA

TLA, Temperature controlled Laminar Airflow, is one of AirSon’s platform technologies. It uses a specific way of introducing the treated air, taking advantage of gravity and creating clean controlled zones where they are needed.

Airson Airshower

The Airshower is a unique series of patented supply air terminals. They are designed for vertical displacement, supplying a thermally controlled air flow.

The Air Lab

We carry out investigations and tests to help you develop tailormade applications for solutions to fit your process and company’s needs.
