When the Swedish industry association “Svensk Solenergi” awarded the energy price of 2016 at the association’s annual meeting in Gothenburg, Väla Centrum received a honorary mention for its solar power plant at the rooftop of the mall.
The plant, which, when it was built, was Sweden's largest of 1.1 MW, produces the same amount of energy as it’s chillers use for climate control on a yearly basis. Since 2012, AirSon Engineering and project manager, Martin Karlsson, has managed Väla Centrum's energy efficiency project and, in 2016, AirSon also led the construction of Sweden's largest solar power plant at the roof of the property.
